Tracking the Sun (negatives)

The aim of the work was to take a photograph of the Sun by exposing the path it takes when passing the frame of a large-format camera. As a result of the strong exposure to light, the image of the Sun burnt holes in the negatives, creating traces which are records of the Sun’s presence in the period between 21 June and 31 August 2022. The process of exposure annihilated the registered reality, leaving variously-sized burn marks on the photosensitive material, with shapes depending on the degree of the Sun’s activity at a given time, day and month. Light, which is a necessary condition for the emergence of an image, at the same time became its executioner.
